Light Crispy Calamari

We've all had Calamari that is so heavily breaded with a dense heavy and soggy crust that it's hard to taste and enjoy the calamari. Breading on deep fried foods should complement, not overwhelm the main ingredient. A light crispy crust gives you the pleasure of the crunch while celebrating the divine texture and flavor of the calamari. Here is artSAVOR version that is wonderfully delicious and a cinch to make.

Dill, Parsley, Leek, Basil, Salt, Pepper, Herbs & Spices

Serves 6 - 8


1 Egg, Whole
2C Buttermilk
2lb Calamari, cleaned, cut in rings
1C Panko
3T artSAVOR 75, already mixed with olive oil
D Sea Salt and pepper, Freshly Ground
2C Canola Oil


In mixing bowl, beat egg lightly, add buttermilk and stir
Add calamari, set aside for few hours
In a plate, add panko and artSAVOR 75, mix well
Add Salt and Pepper to your taste
Heat oil in pan to medium high
Coat calamari into Panko mixture
Fry in oil until golden brown
Serve immediately
